10 December 2018, Varanasi

Over recent years there has been a major worldwide push towards smart cities with many major world cities rolling out initiatives and new services aimed at improving cities and the lives of citizens.

ICT plays an important role as an enabler of smartness in all the infrastructure elements, be it water, electricity, waste management, mobility. Several barriers currently exist against the widespread deployment of effective and powerful smart city solutions. Standards play a key role in overcoming these barriers and facilitating the adoption of new technologies.
